Back to School Season Has Us Running on Fumes (and Monster)

Let's be real "back to school" sounds like a cute little phrase until it's actually happening to you. This year it hit the house like a freight train, because Nana isn't just going back to school, she's going to a whole new one. New building, new teachers, new hallways to figure out, new kids to size up on day one. High stakes energy for someone who still can't reach the top shelf.

And because apparently one adjustment isn't enough for us, we also signed her up for swim lessons AND gymnastics. Same month. Same breath. We really looked at the calendar and said "sure, let's make it interesting." So now our week looks like: new school, wet hair, chalk hands, repeat. She's out here building an entire athletic resume before she can tie her shoes and honestly? Respect. The kid's tougher than most adults we know.

Meanwhile, over here on the parent side of things, the transition has looked a little different. Less "learning to float" and more "learning to function on four hours of sleep." I'm not proud of it, but I'm also not going to lie to you — we are currently a two-Monster-a-day household, most days. Not sipping them either. Cracking one open before the first drop-off and eyeing the second one by lunch like it owes me money. Back to school season doesn't care about your sleep schedule, your calendar, or your New Year's resolution to "cut back on caffeine." It just hands you a permission slip, a swim bag, and a leotard and says good luck.

So if your house currently smells like sunscreen, chlorine, and desperation, you are not alone. If you're reading this one-handed while packing a lunch and mentally reviewing carpool logistics, we see you. This is the season of doing too much, saying yes to everything, and running on whatever's in the fridge that has caffeine in it. Nana's out there flipping, floating, and making new friends like it's nothing, and the least we can do is keep the energy drinks cold and the schedule color-coded.

Here's to surviving the chaos in style... because if we're going down, we're going down looking good doing it. 🥤 Cheers to the new school year, the new sports, and the two Monsters that are getting us through it.
